Welcome to our family blog

Since we live so far away from our family and many of our best friends, it's hard to keep everyone up to speed on updates and pictures.  So, we thought it would be cool to start a family blog where we can post stories, pictures and videos of the baby so you can all stay current on what we're up to and how much he/she is growing.  We're brand new to this blogging thing, so we'll see how it works out! :)  Let us know what you think!

Anxiously awaiting baby Lentil!

This week has been quite the eventful week in the Gabbard household!  We rang in the new year with a trip to the hospital as I started having regular contractions.  My contractions were monitored for quite some time and it was confirmed that I was starting what they refer to as "early labor."  The triage nurse told us to cancel our plans for the rest of the weekend as they fully expected me to be back in active labor within 48 hours.  Well, here we are - 6 days later and still no action even though contractions have remained consistent!!  It certainly has been a long week for me, but baby is doing well and that is all that matters.

In the meantime, I have been able to get wrapped up with work stuff (which feels great!) and get some last minute stuff done (taking down X-Mas decorations, finishing thank-you cards, etc.)...while Sean is brushing up on his photographer skills with our awesome new cameras.  He will be baby ready!  There is still lots that could be done around the house, but I've come to terms that it doesn't all need to be done before baby gets here. So, we're going to push the house stuff aside and enjoy ur last weekend together without a kid! :)
